Meal Periods

All full-time shift employees are provided with two meal periods, lunch and supper, of 60 minutes in length during each tour of duty. Shift employees are expected to have completed their breakfast prior to reporting for duty. In the event of special circumstances (e.g., as a reward, due to an early morning incident requiring a paid personnel recall that included the on-coming shift, etc.) a chief officer of the District may allow shift employees time for breakfast. All full-time clerical employees will have one meal period of 60 minutes in length each workday. Supervisors will schedule meal periods to accommodate operating requirements. Clerical employees will be relieved of all active responsibilities and restrictions during meal periods and will not be compensated for that time. Clerical employees shall not take their meals at their desks.
