Use of Phone and Mail Systems

Personal use of telephones for outgoing local calls is restricted during business hours. No outgoing or incoming personal telephone calls, except in the case of bona fide family emergency situations, should be made or accepted during working hours. This includes the use of personally owned portable telephones. Personal portable telephones should not be carried by employees during working hours. These items should be kept in equipment bags or in personally owned vehicles during working hours. These items should not be used when their use would disrupt normal daily operations. Personal pagers that are brought to work shall be kept in their non-audible alert mode during working hours. Sni Valley assumes no responsibility for any loss, breakage or theft of employee-owned portable phones or personal pagers. Employees may be required to reimburse Sni Valley for any charges resulting from their personal use of the telephone.

The use of Sni Valley-paid postage for personal correspondence is not permitted.

The District's fax machine is for business use only.

To ensure effective telephone communications, employees should always use the approved greeting and speak in a courteous and professional manner. Please confirm information received from the caller, and hang up only after the caller has done so. The approved greeting to be used whenever answering a District telephone includes: the appropriate salutation for the time of day, identifying that the caller has reached the Sni Valley Fire Protection District, and stating the name of the person answering the call.
