480 Volunteer Membership Reimbursement
Effective Date:
Revision Date:
All volunteer members of Sni Valley must earn a minimum number of points each month to maintain their membership with the District. Volunteer members who fail to earn the required number of hours in any one month will have their membership terminated, unless the Assistant Chief believes the circumstances warrant a different outcome.
The total number of required points that must be earned each month is thirty-six (36). This monthly total must include no less than twenty-four (24) points earned by serving scheduled station time and twelve (12) points earned by attending no less than four in-house training sessions.
In order to help defer the expenses associated with being a volunteer member of Sni Valley, the District agrees to reimburse volunteer members according to the following point schedule:
TRAINING TIME/SPECIAL DETAILS
Volunteer members of the District shall be awarded one point for each hour they are in attendance at in-house District training sessions. They shall also be awarded one point for each hour they assist with a special detail, provided their assistance was pre-approved by a Chief officer.
STATION TIME
Volunteer members of the District shall be awarded one point for each hour of station time served each month. These station time hours must be served in no less than four hour blocks of time. Preference for apparatus assignments and overnight accommodations shall be given to those volunteer members who pre-schedule their station time, regardless of seniority.
Volunteer members of the District shall be awarded two points for each hour of station time served on the day before, day of, or day after any District recognized holiday.
INCIDENT RESPONSE
Volunteer members of the District shall be awarded one point for each hour of time spent in response to an emergency incident while serving station time or training time. Volunteer members will be awarded eight (8) points per call for responding from home to any paid recall issued by the District. Paid recall response should be documented on the recall sheet approved by the on-duty Captain or his/her substitute.
BONUS RANKING
Each calendar quarter the Fire Chief shall post a list of the top ten volunteer members who accumulated the most points above the minimum hours required. Bonuses will be awarded to the top ten volunteer members.
REIMBURSEMENT CHECKS
At the end of each calendar quarter, the volunteer member timecards and recall sheets will be tallied and the total number of points to be awarded will be established. This point total will be divided into the amount of money to be used for reimbursement each calendar quarter as set forth by the Board of Directors. The resulting quotient shall assign a monetary amount to be awarded for each point in that calendar quarter. The District shall use this figure to prepare reimbursement checks for all volunteer members. These reimbursement checks shall normally be issued on the first pay day following the end of each calendar quarter.
