Sni Valley recognizes the value of employment-related formal education. To that end, the District has developed educational incentives for those regular full-time employees who have been awarded a college degree in a field of study directly related to the mission of the District (e.g., Fire Science, Emergency Medical Service, Public Administration). All degree programs must have 50% classroom attendance. All online degree programs will require approval from the Fire Chief before starting the degree program. The Fire Chief shall determine the relevancy of specific degree programs to the mission of the District and submit his recommendation to the Board of Directors for approval and awarding of the incentive.
Regular full-time employees who have successfully completed their initial probationary period will receive an educational incentive based upon the level of their degree program according to the following scale:
Associate of Applied Science, $1100.00
Bachelor of Science, $1,700.00
These incentives shall be awarded in semi-annual installments during the months of January and July following the successful completion of the employee's initial probationary program and semi-annually thereafter. Sni Valley will pay incentives for only the highest mission-related degree granted to an individual full-time regular employee.
Employees who have acquired Haz-Mat Technician level certification, a member of the Tri-District Haz-Mat team, attends 70% of Haz-Mat team training, and responds to paid re-calls shall receive a $400.00 incentive bonus each year in July.
Separations from service initiated by either Sni Valley or the employee will result in the award being made for actual time served to the District.
