SUMMARY The EMS Billing Coordinator is a nonexempt position reporting to the Administrative Manager. Compiles data, prepares and processes invoices and bills for emergency medical services, investigates customer complaints about EMS billing and assumes duties of the Receptionist during that person's absence or as needed, by performing the following duties. This position will be cross-trained in payroll and accounts payable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reads state run forms or gathers records such as medical charge procedure forms, refusal information sheets, run log, and/or daily shift log to compile needed data.
Keys information into computer or computes amounts due to obtain computerized records for processing statistical information.
Prepares invoices, listing amounts due, terms, and dates, monthly scheduled reports for Board meetings and miscellaneous reports as requested by management.
Posts transactions (i.e. payments, adjustments, etc.) to individual runs via the computer.
Examines records (e.g., bills, computer printouts, related documents, correspondence, etc.) and converses or corresponds with customers, insurance companies, law offices, and other District personnel (i.e., accounts receivables, paramedics, etc.) to obtain facts regarding runs/accounts and determines accuracy of customer complaints/concerns.
Notifies customer and designated personnel of findings, adjustments, and recommendations such as refunds or adjustments to customer bills.
Investigates overdue bills, contacts delinquent account customers, records status of collection efforts, and processes accounts according to District office policies.
Recommends to management improvements in billing methods and procedures to prevent future complaints of similar nature.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); nine months related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of visitors, patrons or employees of the District.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, interest, commissions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Possesses the ability to get along with others and to concentrate for extended periods of time. Displays the ability to work independently and multi task.
